[ET Net News Agency, 19 January 2026] Full-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$225.69 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$27.22 billion, or 12.06% of the
market's turnover. There were 809 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and XIAOMI-W
(01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.22 billion and HK$1.71
billion, or 8.15% and 6.29% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 23.39% and 25.71% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and BABA-W (09988) registered HK$1.5 billion and HK$1.25 billion of
short sales, accounting for 5.51% and 4.58% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 10.48% and 10.67% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed down HK$0.96, or 1.02%, to HK$93.56. XIAOMI-W ended down HK$0.62, or
1.67%, to HK$36.48. TRACKER FUND fell HK$0.28, or 1.04% to HK$26.76. BABA-W declined by
HK$5.8, or 3.49%, to HK$160.4.
