A wise man once said, “today’s preparation determines tomorrow’s achievement.” Before the final round of the competition, it is important for us to have sufficient preparation in order to cope with the upcoming challenges.

　　A showcase is the perfect occasion to get us prepared. In this showcase, we presented our work to professionals and residents in the district. It was a valuable opportunity for us to rehearse for our final round where we will have to present our ideas in detail to the judges. We have familiarised ourselves with a similar scenario that we will encounter very soon.

　　Moreover, since most of the guests are professionals or civil servants who are familiar with the environment of the district, some of the comments they gave were concerns raised and viewed from a totally different perspective comparing to those we received in the past. For example, one of the guests advised us not to include anything portable in our device because we would end up losing track of them. And some said we should minimise the steps and procedures the users need to undergo to operate the device as they are not familiar with how it works. We focused too much on the functions of the components of our device instead of their practicability. We did not genuinely step into the users’ shoes and plan thoroughly. This reminded us to consider and address more concerns about the feasibility and potential risks arising from our proposal. Such advice definitely helped us reflect on our proposal and improve our prototype accordingly. Besides, since the mechanism involved in our model is quite complicated, we have faced a number of challenges. However, some of the guests we met gave us actual suggestions on what kind of physics theories we can apply on our prototype, for example, some suggested us to use the pulley or spring theory that converts potential energy to kinetic energy, which was very useful to us. We all felt grateful for such a precious opportunity to learn more information related to our project.

　　Apart from the massive and useful opinions we received, the warm encouragements from the guests cannot be missed out. They kindly left us with words of encouragement after showing their support and recognition towards our project. These meant so much to us because praisements from them brought us a sense of satisfaction which motivates us to strive for our best in the following tasks.
